Baby Jason Rome Tinsley is growing very fast and is sitting up on his own. He flips over, so we have to be careful where he is on the floor. He is curious about everything and everything goes in his little mouth, so, again, we have to be careful. Andrea and Andrew and baby Gabriel Nathaniel are coming back up from Orlando with me on the 9th. I am so excited that they will be here for the holidays. I am looking forward to the "Amish in Deutsch County" presentations. I will have lots of goodies to sample, as well as will be signing cookbooks. I will also have my homemade breads, jams, salsas, and other Christmas treats to sell. The breads freeze well, so you can get them as gifts.
Christmas in an Amish community is simple yet spectacular, in that they celebrate Christmas for a whole week, at least in my community they did, I can't speak for every community, as there are so many New Orders springing up around the country. We would cook a lot of food, have relatives and friends over and just enjoy what Jesus has done for us. It is typical in my Mennonite community, but we do not have as much of a feast as far as the food goes. It is still a wonderful time to celebrate Jesus' birth. As I end this, lets all give gratitude, not just on Thanksgiving, but each and every day and make God our top priority. Keeping ourselves within our church community strengthens us. God tells us to not be part of the world, and I believe that is so easily overlooked in today's society, where gratitude and daily devotion to Him is overlooked so people can get richer. But remember, Heaven's riches are far greater than man's riches, so take time this holiday season to prioritize, give gratitude and enjoy the simple yet spectacular meaning of the season!

Baby Gabriel Nathaniel was welcomed into the family this past week. Some of my Twitter readers listened to my excitement as the time neared for Andrea to have him. He weighed 9 lbs 2oz and was 21 inches long. He has chubby cheeks like his daddy did when he was born. OK, I know I am working 16-hour days, and have Disneyworld/Orlando set for my September tour, but I can't wait that long to hold him. I was on the phone with his, "real" grandma, my twin sister, Melissa, who lives near the coast of sunny Texas, and we will be going to see him after the Aquathon. If you haven't heard about the Aquathon that actress Kirstie Alley and global charity worker Steve Woods have launched, go to http://www.twitter.com/aquathon to help Africa to get clean drinking water.
The May issue of , The Amish Garden will be mailed next week. It has a special Summer Gardening Corner that will be a nice guide for planting your summer food supply. It will also have one of my top Amish salad dressing recipes in it, along with a Summer Salads Section. The Amish eat a lot of salads year-round. They are able to do this by planting and harvesting several acres of fruits and vegetables, in which they preserve and eat year-round. Above is a small patch of flowers that I thought was very pretty. My mother has several flower gardens. I especially enjoy the tulips, and their deep, ruch shades of color.
Below is a new photo of my grandbaby, Jason Rome Tinsley Taylor. We had him out while we were working in the field. He loved looking around, as I carried him. Finally, his father had to buckle him in, as they had to go home.
